um, is there a canon design for grubs? I see a lot of different fan interpretations but I feel like there has to be a sprite somewhere... (yes, I've checked the masterlist, sorry if i missed something)

Hi! I know you're quite busy and all, so you really don't have to answer this right away! I've just started Homestuck, and I wanted to go on the wiki page to kind of understand the characters and I had two questions: What does pre/post scratch mean? Also, I don't quite understand Rose's Mom, and how she is Roxy, yet it says that Roxy's mom is actually Rose, and Dave is Rose's sister. I might be explaining this wrong, I'm sorry. Thank you so much!

Oh dear, if you’ve just started reading I don’t think you should worry about this too much! It’s easier to understand once you’ve read through most of it… But I’ll try to explain it!

Scratching is an incident that occurs when a session cannot be won, it’s basically like a do-over, but when the scratch occurs the ancestors of the previous players take over and that session essentially ceases to exist. That’s where the pre-scratch and post-scratch terms come from. The ecto-babies are sent to another timeline where the next session would occur, one where the original players grow up the be the guardians of those who.. used to be theirs, I suppose, and that’s how Roxy is Rose’s mom and Rose is Roxy’s mom.

Dave is Rose’s brother because Roxy and Dirk are actually clones of themselves, but Dave and Rose were created by mixing up their genetic makeup to create them. The same can be said for the Harley/English and Egbert/Crocker duos.

I probably worded that all wrong ahahahahahha;;;;; Please feel free to ask me to clarify anything.

Isn't there a walkaround with Dave, and in it he finds his bro? I haven't had any luck finding it.

I know you're a recourse blog, but I still want to ask this... Do you have any idea why people always make space players have red shoes? When I first watched cascade, I figured it was because Jade was a Witch and it was a reference to the Wizard of Oz. (Even if her shoes were made of silver in the books and not ruby, due to the fact it was a book of satirical allegory about politics and the economy).

It might be a reference to the Wizard of Oz, but people make space players have red shoes because that’s how it’s been shown in canon (Jade has red shoes, Porrim has red shoes)

Wouldn't the kids not age though? Since they reached god tier and gods don't age.

His age in the comic now would be the same as all the kids, around 15-16 years years old (too lazy to convert to sweeps omg sorry)

It might be that! But speaking from experience, I’m 16 now and I have not grown an inch since I was 13 hahahaha 8’)

It could also be that she altered her outfit, or that Hussie forgot about how long he originally made the skirt. We’ll see!

The comment about my own height wasn’t to shoot down the growth spurt theory, but to add a point and caution people before they conclude the reason. Hussie’s made clothing mistakes before, it’s happened, I’m offering alternative reasons is all. You’re free to believe it’s a growth spurt, I can believe it (but frankly i’m not too interested in the fact..??)

Why is Jade's skirt shorter in the update? I'm pretty sure her skirt used to be longer. Sorry if it's not and I'm just being stupid. Thank you in advance, I know that you guys are very busy!
