yes! eventually everything comes together, just keep persevering and it will all make sense.
just forget about the trolls until act 5, they’re not essential to the story until you’ve got through the first 4 acts. don’t skip the intermission either

so i would hazard that two animals probably exists somewhere, just not as an example that we’ve seen in canon

there isn’t really a ‘certain’ pattern to it! it’s just basically this? but its half rectangles with lines coming off with small circles every so often.
