march eridan is not necessarily problematic in and of itself. there is nothing wrong with a supposedly male character wearing an outfit like that. the problem is that many people take march eridan as a joke. it’s funny because “haha, that dude’s wearing a skirt.” that is the problem. when you laugh at march eridan because he is a supposedly male character dressing in what is generally considered female clothing, you are laughing at many cross-dressers and genderqueer people.
liking march eridan because you find it empowering or simply like having a character who messes with gender norms is fine! liking march eridan because “lol he’s a guy wearing a tube top and a skirt” is not.
again, the problem with march eridan is not that he’s crossdressing!! the problem is that many fans tend to play march eridan off as a joke because he’s crossdressing.
