My laptop died and I put it on my bed in which I occasionally quest. Can that count?

u made the mods laugh. congrats

still no though sorry

I keep seeing people ask questions about how stuff happens. Is this just for curiosity's sake or is there something I'm missing here like a Homestuck game? And are there any good Homestuck games floating around anywhere?
Anonymous

well there is a homestuck adventure game coming out eventually but I think most people ask us questions because either they just want to understand homestuck or they’re creating their own fansession and want to know how things work so that they can make them accurate and stuff! also roleplay/fanfiction things probably

Do you think a rogue with glasses just still have glasses, or would there eyes be fixed?

the glasses would probably be on top of the mask and they’d look so un-rad. wow

To the anon who asked about just and heroic deaths, and the following answer: I just wanted to mention that it could also be based on what a stereotypical storyline - like classic fairytales or children's shows - would call a just or heroic death. Examples would be things like when the hero defeats the villain, or when the father figure sacrifices himself for his child/student/whatever. Just a thought, carry on.

yeah, this is definitely what it’s based on!

on a mostly related note, from hussie’s q+a tumblr sessions:

  • The path of a character through the game SBURB (or SGRUB) is a collection of certain events. The prototyping of the dead family member, teleporting to another world, usually one or more deaths, seeking out a family member (or the whole discovering the truth about the player’s “family”), rising up as a god tier… While there are some exceptions, It seems like most of the players follow a similar path.
  • In reading the comic it has become apparent to me that these events can be interpreted as following the path of a hero through Joseph Campbell’s monomythic cycle (in fact I wrote a 16 page academic paper on this connection).
  • My question is: Is this connection to the oldest story a deliberate one, or one that arose spontaneously? Were you aware that your story was following the proper steps to declare players of the game Heroes in the Mythological sense?
There are some deliberate things going on.

In other cases some things probably arose naturally because these are some really basic and primordial concepts lurking in all our psyches about the journey of a hero that you can’t get away from.

this is super cool stuff! I’ve been reading all about monomythic stuff lately (I’d recommend christopher vogler's the writer’s journey to anyone interested) and I’ve been loving it! real interesting. people are so neat

fucking hell u onion i meant literally i wanna be a mOD

we will probably never add more mods! as homestuck dies off, there’s not really a need for any more than we currently have, but we appreciate that you want to help! there are still other ways in which you can help us, and trust me, it’s not a job that most people would actually enjoy anyway

Can you explain what exactly happens when a session is scratched? Does the universe with the session cease to exist or does it just create a similar session in the same universe?
Anonymous

technically speaking, B1 Earth and B2 Earth are in the same universe! scratching a session just means that all the little ectobiologized babies get cloned and the clones get sent off to another version of their home planet to try the damn thing again

everything inside the B1 incipisphere was destroyed during the scratch, but the universe was unaffected! the only thing that has destroyed the universe has been bec noir being a fucking loser

how does one become a mod??
Anonymous

you die on your quest laptop and ascend to mod tier

can a god tier person die just because they were a bad person? or do they have to die WHILE doing something bad/BECAUSE OF something bad they did? just like if a god tier person is a good person they don't just stay dead because they were generally good.
Anonymous

as far as I understand it, bad god tier people can die for being just bad people I guess, whereas good god tier people can only die if they are actively doing something sacrificial when they die

basically the entire god tier death system is rigged to weed out the weak ones

thieves are hot. why are thieves always so hot?
