Someone can fall from Prospit into Skaia and don't have brain damage, because it's a comic. The character will only have brain damage if it is said explicitly in canon. A lot of characters had accidents (Remember Sollux?) and they don't have Brain Damage simply because hussie doesn't want them to have it. Tumblr is simply obsessed with Illnesses and disabilities.

Brain damage comes in many forms, and I get that you’re suggesting that he may have a more mild form of brain damage than Mituna, however we can’t really confirm that! If that’s your headcanon, that’s fine! But just keep in mind Jake was a bit slow even before said head hitting occured.
