i would say 13 minimum, i don’t think a 7 year old should be reading it. to be frank with you, that’s a little irresponsible.

there’s strong language, violence, sexual themes and now there’s implications of domestic abuse too. 

so yeah, i would not let a 7 year old read homestuck.

well the first issue here is that we have never personally made a god tier test so i have no idea what test you’re taking. if it’s a non-canon result then usually there’s an explanation on the page; even if it’s linking to another site/tumblr

so try looking for an external link or maybe tell us what the test was titled so we can point you in the direction of whoever made it, so you can ask them instead :)

from what i’ve seen inferred on his twitter account, he wanted to reduce his web presence back to how it used to be (which was barely anything). this is probably because he kept saying problematic things that ended up with tension building between him and fans. ie. racism/fat jokes

so for that reason, it’s a good thing he did. it was bleeding into the comic and becoming very immature (eg. when it was pointed out he had racist undertones, hussie created the whole trickster ‘arc’, posting even more things to tumblr about it that upset fans.)

so yeah, although it’s kinda sad and i do miss the world-building aspect of his q&a sessions, it’s def for the best.

no, so far it is relative to the serket blood-line. that said, tavros is also able to commune with animals but that’s not exactly the same thing…..

so yeah, if we’re talking purely trolls, then only a serket can directly control another troll in canon.

but like we say every single time, if you’re asking this question for a fantroll then who cares? go make your fantroll with mind controlling abilities and have fun! :)

oh right, ahha i’ve been doing groups for so long i totally forgot about indie. so yeah i was totally ignoring them, let me make a post about that now too.

i have also done indie rping in tumblr and i find it either goes really well or really terribly. it can be very hard to get started, but it’s really accomplishing once you get it right.

you need to be persistent and have a high resilience to ‘rejection’. i have a lot of friends who dropped out of indie rping because they said they felt like they were ignored and couldn’t find anyone to rp with. you just need to push and push and follow anyone who you’d like to interact with and send them starter and make first contact. it’s not the kind of rping where you can expect people to come to you, you need to make the effort. in my opinion, it’s not the kind of rping for people who have social anxiety because of this pressure and responsibility.

on the other hand, you can totally flourish under these conditions. you have no restraints that come from a group (ie. interacting with the same people over and over and being stuck to the same setting) you can change your character to different aus in different rps, do cross-fandom rping and and meet hundreds of people. it feels soooo good to have so many rps happening, and who doesn’t like attention? your character development is really pushed because of the au’s you can put yourself into, and it’s a great way to really master the character you’re playing. 

so yeah, indie rping is hard and can be very lonely if you don’t put yourself out there enough, but if you do manage to do that then it’s really good fun!! if you like freedom and have a good attention span, then it’s totes the right thing for you! :)

i find that it helps to start up alongside a friend, or have people in mind with whom you’d like to rp. it helps ease the nerves and makes it a lot easier to get started from what i’ve experienced. additionally, don’t restrict yourself to a handful of people! one of the beauties of indies is that you can rp with as many people as you like, including multiples or aus of characters. if you stick to the same few people all the time, you may feel a little lost when people become less active.

hmm well… i guess it depends? i’m just gonna babble about what i’ve found and you can take what is relevant. 

i’ve been rping since i was… 12? and i’ve been running my current homestuck rp group for coming on 3 years. i’ve been running rp groups on tumblr for about 5 years in total now aaaand i’ve run about.. 6 in total? i’m currently active/semi-active in about 3.

atm i’m running one homestuck rp and another non-homestuck related one. the homestuck one is pretty lax and i don’t mind who joins, where as the other one is 18+ and needs a decent writing ability due to the themes of the fandom? (which is like… death and fighting before jumping to conclusions)

it depends on your standards too? we try to recruit people in who we think are going to be long-term members of the group and that’s fucking hard. we’re still missing a jake and roxy, i find those two characters have been especially hard to find rpers for who are active. we’re still struggling with aradia/nepeta too :’)

you need to be clear about what the setting of the group is too. we were too wishy-washy at first and people were too confused to join. or they’d join and wouldn’t be on the same page.

uh… tagging is important. you can only use 5 tags. we usually use ‘homestuck’ 'homestuck rp’ and then tag in characters we need. so at the moment our recruiting post is tagged as: 'homestuck’ 'homestuck rp’ 'jake english’ 'roxy lalonde’

recruiting posts are important too. if you’re just starting out then tag in the main characters that everyone loves: (ie. males lol) you can fill up dave, karkat, sollux and gamzee very easily–if you have 4 or 5 rpers that stay as the 'core’ then you can start adding in the harder-to-get rpers around them, like aradia, feferi and equius.

you need to make sure that people don’t get cliquey. we had a sollux/eridan who only interacted with each other and karkat, sometimes terezi too. they’ve now been replaced and eridan interacts with everyone from terezi to jane and the same with sollux. who cares if feferi and dirk never interacted in canon? they need to interact to sustain a group. people who don’t interact with certain characters are not team-players, and will cause inactivity in your group :/

i’m using the main kinda characters as an example, but it’s true for any characters–from fantrolls to squiddles.

also, keep in mind how big your group is. our group has the 8 kids and 12 trolls. that’s 20 people. 20 people is very difficult to manage, and we have 3 moderates to help do so. i would not recommend more than 20. ideally, i’d even suggest less but it’s hard with homestuck. i was in a homestuck group that had well… any character you think of, they were in the group. it was havoc/chaos/unhealthy and unorganised.

more than anything, go with your gut feeling. if you think someone is trouble, don’t accept them. we’ve accepted people we thought were dubious and had really gross issues with triggers and emotional manipulation :( 

and just have fun! i guess what i’ve said has made it sound scary but it really isn’t :) you get to meet amazing new people, and rp groups on tumblr often stick together for a long time. my girlfriend and best friend was met through the first tumblr rp i ever joined, almost 5 years ago. almost all my close friends online are from the 3 year homestuck rp i’m still currently running, and i many friends and acquaintances from rping in other groups. 

respect each other and love each other and it will all work out fine! just be prepared to get assertive to keep that respect and love flowing <3

your two points are easily debunked by canon.

explain to me why when he is shooshpapping gamzee his text is lime green

why does terezi shoosh pap sollux in bright red? if it was relative to karkat then 

a) only karkat would shoosh pap

b) all shoosh paps would be in bright green

and that’s another great point. karkat doesn’t even shoosh pap in lime green. it’s bright green. it doesn’t match lime green for trolls (or even cherubs).

have you considered the fact his this text is bright green because it was the only colour left that wasn’t already used in the panel? gamzee’s eyes are red so that clashes. karkat’s eyes are yellow and it’s hard to read. bright blue might be difficult against the purple for colour blind—plus it doesn’t look great either. 

limebloods had a power that was a threat to the highbloods. we don’t know what it is. it is a fandom assumption it is pap shooping, spread by people who want karkat to be a limeblood.

why he is in between nepeta and sollux

because karkat is based on cancer, and cancer appears between gemini and leo. it has nothing to do with his blood colour. karkat does not appear on the hemospectrum whatsoever—he only appears between nepeta and sollux for the sake of the zodiac theme. 

at no point has anywhere in the comic ever said that karkat’s position there means he was a limeblood. he always flashes bright red in that position. are you really assuming that hussie would be like ‘ok he’s in between sollux and nepeta for his zodiac sign. that’s enough. they don’t need any other hints or backstory or worldbuilding’. if so, are we even reading the same comic?

edit:

actually, something i’ve never expanded on before is the fact that karkat’s sign was created specifically for mutant bloods–after the signless. this means that it is a sign only mutant redbloods will take, from the whole ‘alphabet available’.

if it is not a sign available to limebloods, then they will not be able to take karkat’s 'place’. this would mean they would probably fall either side of karkat, in 'zodiac’ order.

hemospectrum and zodiac placing are two different things.

there is nothing in canon that says limebloods mutated. no one ever suggests talks about karkat and limebloods. there is not a single indication in canon apart from this one strange ‘shoosh papping’ scene that seems to have been taken out of context.

what’s even more amusing, is the character that gave us all the information on limeblood trolls has been shrugged off from the limeblood route entirely by the fandom. 

calliope didn’t tell us about limebloods because of karkat. she told us about limebloods because she believes she is the closest match to a troll limeblood. this is probably because she is, and the easiest way to narrate the backstory necessary for the explanation of her powers was just for calliope to talk about it because hussie does foreshadow and give hints and information. and all this foreshadowing is for calliope.

attention should be pulled away from karkat and placed on calliope—she is going to be the one who displays limeblood powers, not him.
