I believe the actual theory is that Karkat kissing Kanaya was a CONTRIBUTING factor to her becoming a rainbow drinker, not the sole reason.

there are a lot of issues with this theory and they all seem to come from the fandom’s tendency to waaaayyyy overanalyze shit
if the aspects associated with karkat’s failed revival attempt of kanaya and her subsequent undeadness were intended for that specific situation, then they were purely symbolic, but I honestly doubt even that

biologically speaking, the whole “kissed by blood player” thing doesn’t make sense for rainbow drinkers because there had been other rainbow drinkers on alternia that karkat hadn’t kissed probably, unless that dude has secrets he’s not telling us
