Anonymousterezi technically never had a lusus, as she grew up without any contact with it until she was blinded. we know that terezi then lived alone in a forest, presumably away from other civilisation.
so they can live fine! terezi is perfectly capable of fighting and no-one seems to treat her any differently.
i would argue that this might be down to resilience: terezi seems to be able to cope with almost anything that is thrown at her. a troll who breaks under the smallest thing may not do so well :(
