Tutorial on Making Prospit or Derse Pictures

abyssclockworker:

After some tinkering, I’ve finally found out how to make images of Prospit and Derse (listen up, fanventure writers!), using sai.

  1. Get a picture of cathedrals. Hussie usually uses Florence, Italy.
  2. Take out the background. I’m sure this doesn’t need further explanation.
  3. Make the cathedral picture grayscale. This can be done by putting the Saturation at -100.
  4. Bump up the Contrast as well as the Brightness or Luminosity.
  5. Sample a nice Prospitian orange-yellow or a Dersite blue-purple from the canon Homestuck panels.
  6. Create a duplicate layer of the cathedral layer. Select the ‘Preserve Opacity’, and fill up everything with that color.
  7. Make a duplicate layer of the colored layer. Sandwich the cathedral picture layer between the two colored layers.
  8. Change the above colored layer from ‘Normal’ Mode to ‘Overlay’ Mode.
  9. Lessen the opacity of the above colored layer as well as the cathedral layer. There you have it!

An example of the finished product: @

It may not be exactly identical to Hussie’s work, but it’s pretty darn close! :D
