some folks have sent me messages about Caliborn faving and commenting on my drawing, and I wanted to talk about why I don’t like it.

the thing I don’t like about Hussie not “breaking character” re: his interactions with the original drawing is that he’s using this to play up the joke made in-comic - i.e., the joke about Caliborn stealing art and ripping things off and being a shitty artist. meanwhile I and Ruka (my collaborator) are not in on the joke, and never have been; we are essentially being made into a joke since it’s our “shitty art” that was used as inspiration in the first place, and now is being retroactively claimed by the character.

it would be another thing entirely if we were all in on it, but as it stands I see this thing about Caliborn commenting on and favoriting our drawing as Hussie caring more about maintaining a fictional story and its humor, than actually treating us with respect.
