okay so the first method of ascension is the ‘conventional’ method. vriska, john and jade ascended this way.
you must have a dream self left. this means that your dream self hasn’t been killed on prospit or derse.
this is where you are killed, and then brought to the quest bed on your planet. it doesn’t matter if you die before you reach the quest bed or after you reach the quest bed, just as long as you are dead.
your body then dies, and is replaced with the body of your dream self to a quest bed in skaia. no matter where you are, your dream self with teleport to the corresponding quest bed!
your other option is through the crypts, which is how everyone else ascended.
this option doesn’t matter if you have both a dream self and a living-self but if you have no dream self left or you are your dream self, then this is your only option.
within the moons of prospit and derse lie the crypts. a player with one life left can then god tier through the crypts, through weird plot shit. however, all instances of crypt ascensions have involved the moon being destroyed through a great power. some argue that’s important, others don’t, but it’s something to keep in mind
(also if your character is dead before the session begins, their dreamself will lie on the crypt, away from the dreamselves of the other players—as seen by aradia)

Anonymousokay i am humanities student who almost failed every graphic/art subject so this is probably going to be a shoddy explanation and i’m not even sure if my own understanding is correct.
but bitmap images are made up of loads of pixels of different colours, where as vectors are just made up of blocks of colours in shapes.. called objects?
so basically, a bitmap image is all pixelly and pretty low quality when zooming in and out, where as you can pretty much resize a vector to any size and they don’t lose quality

How come Aradia and Sollux are the only ones who are 0kay with things after the died? (half-died, whatever)

unless i missed a blatant explanation, aradia is 0k with things because she is dead. dead people don’t seem to really need emotions. aradia also became obsessed with what the ghosties whispered to her–anything else didn’t matter to her so she was just 0k with it.
sollux becomes 0k with things in a reference to aradia, but also because it silenced the voices in his head. he was therefore more neutral and stable than his bi-polar personality from before.
